This project is located near a lake in Babolsar
tourist zone, making it an important urban centre in the area. Having that in
mind, one of the main criteria was to create an urban plaza within the building
as a continuation of the surrounding urban area. This plaza becomes an urban
route linking the adjacent streets where people could use to access the levels
above and below the ground floor without entering the building.
In an attempt to make the commercial units equally
valuable in every level of the building, one side of the building was dedicated
to a vertical parking lot accessible from every level of the building.
The commercial function of the complex
could be divided into three main categories:
1.
The urban
plaza which is directly connected to the city, which also acts as the main
entrance to the commercial complex. This space attracts more people to visit
the complex.
2.
The main
commercial units which address the needs of people from all over the city.
3.
The food
court on the top floor with view to the surroundings.
The exterior geometry of the project was
shaped based on two criteria:
·
Creating
variable aesthetic effects based on the position of the observer.
·
Increasing
the surface area of the exterior showcases in order to better promote the
commercial aspect of the complex.
Based on these criteria, the façade was
shaped in layers which are opaque in one side and semi-transparent on the other
side. Therefore, the perception of the observer changes as moving relative to
the building. this perception changes from solid when the person is viewing the
building form an angle, to semi-transparent when moving towards the building
and eventually to transparent when arriving in front of the building. The
glazing on the semi-transparent side is equipped with a special lighting system
which could create variable effects as desired.
