This project was a proposal for a five-star hotel & resort in the west coast of the beautiful Kish Island. Inspired by the Persian Architecture, the overall form of the project was derived from the shape of the traditional water reservoirs originally used in Southern Iran.
Three main elements formed the building:
1.
The outer shell (inspired by the Traditional Persian Geometries)
2.
The inner glass layer (forming all the window openings)
3.
Green balconies (occupying the space between the outer shell and the floor slabs)
One important criterion was to design in accordance with the sustainability standards. Therefore, controlling the amount of sunlight penetration was an important design issue, considering the hot and humid climate of Kish Island. In order to address this issue, Window shades with Persian motifs were implemented on the south facade to capture most of the generated heat without altering the view to the sea.
