This project consisted of the façade retrofit of Sour Esrafil Shopping Centre in Tehran with the aim of revitalizing the performance of the center. The design idea was to move beyond creating a two dimensional façade and to create connection between the internal activities of the Shopping center and Sour Esrafill Road. Following this idea, a social platform was created in the form of a balcony on the façade. This balcony is a place for people to stay and hang out, and is accessible from inside the shopping center to boost the popularity of the commercial units. As part of the overall concept, the rooftop of the building was connected to the balcony as the continuation of the social platform. The brick and torques ceramics used in this project were selected based on the common materials used in the traditional fabric of the surrounding context.
