This project consists of a community of 10 villas in the suburbs of Karaj, surrounded by mountains on one side and Karaj River on the other side. Considering the fluctuating topography as well as the existing trees on site, the idea was to have a consistent transition from the site to the building so that together they form a new morphology. This new form consists of terraced slabs, stepping up the slope of the site. The final form of each house is affected by a number of factors including the site topography, the sunlight exposure, and the existing trees.
Taking into account the relatively high density requirements for the community, the intention of the design was to make use of the various horizontal slabs created by the building morphology to form a new landscape which defines the private as well as the public open spaces. These built landscapes merge with the site to become an element of nature. Every slab is accessible through the interior space attached to it and could be used according to the function of that particular space. A covered vehicular access was implemented at the back of the buildings, to minimize the amount of noise and traffic disturbance.
