The main design challenge of this project was the unusual dimension of the site with a 4m width and a 30m depth. The main idea was to achieve a solution which not only forms the north and south facades but also helps in the design of the interior spaces.
Considering the narrow width of the site, the primary question was how to circulate through the building. Therefore the internal organization of spaces was initiated by resolving this issue.
The idea for the exterior surface was to create a dynamic façade which visually attracts both pedestrians and drivers. Inspired by the movement of fish clusters in oceans, a node system was used to form a dynamic façade in accordance with the movement of vehicles in two directions on the adjacent roadway.
The nodes were made of steel bars with LED lights implemented on the edge, making them glow at night. On the south façade these nodes form window openings with varied opacity to control the south sunlight exposure.
