This project is located in front of a metro station on Beheshti Avenue, a major axis of Karaj. The intention of the project was to transform the huge box-shaped volume of an ordinary shopping mall into a dynamic urban plaza which engages with the city.
The design was initiated by extending the city on the surface of the building which defines the urban open space as well as the separate entrances to each floor. This new form was achieved by converting the vertical surfaces of the cube to a series of horizontal slabs stepping up to reach the desired height.
The rooftop is also a public space which is easily accessible through a series of ramps enabling public access even when the shopping mall is closed.
